Drive the Dream Diesel Taster
Selected Summer Tuesday Mornings
Drive the dream with one of our diesel locomotive driving taster sessions. Spend an hour with our experienced driver in the cab of one of our heritage diesel locomotives trying your hand at mastering the controls.
- Drive the line between Wirksworth and Shottle and back, with our experienced driver showing you the ropes and our secondman operating the level crossing gates. There are no other participants.
- The experience lasts one hour and takes place using the locomotive rostered for service on the date you visit from a pool of Class 14, Class 31, Class 33 or Class 73, prior to it commencing passenger duties for the day.
- Includes a complementary Day Rover for the participant to ride on the trains for the rest of the day.
- The experience takes place "light engine" (i.e. the locomotive only without coaches)
- Sorry, guests are not able to ride on the locomotive during the experience but may wait at Wirksworth Station and use the facilities there.
- Participants must be aged 18 or above
